RWTH Aachen University

Description

RWTHRWTH Aachen is a leading technically oriented research university with approx 7400 staff. The chair of Process Control Engineering is one of the leading research groups in the field of industrial automation. It is part of an interdisciplinary automation group at the RWTH Aachen which is responsible for the master course “Automatisierungstechnik”. The research field of the chair is the development of models which can be explicitly explored and changed during runtime. A special focus is the “intelligent” modular package units and the automated arrangement, configuration and integration of system units (hot plug and play) during runtime. The research activities involve the development of the theoretical aspects as well as the implementation of industrial relevant solutions. Prof. Epple is strongly involved in the standardization committees.

Role in the project

RWTH Aachen will play an important role in WP4 on tools for SoS engineering, working on the development of the information models consistency and integration, the specification of the model management concepts, the definition of the interface standards and the specification, realization and validation of the synchronization concepts, and to the dissemination and exploitation of the results and to the synthesis of the findings of the project.
